Boston Marathon 2013
The Happy Times w/Kids at Heart
April 15th, 2013
Images and memories of the happy times with the 2013 Kids at Heart credit union-sponsored Boston Marathon team; part of the Boston Children's Hospital Miles for Miracles program. Three different events are represented in this gallery: the team party and Miles for Miracles reception both held on Sat., April 13th, and the Boston Marathon itself on the 15th.
The day of this year's Boston Marathon was absolutely perfect; a beautiful, cool, sunny day. All around the city the air was festive, filled with excitement, laughter, and cheering -- until in an instant that afternoon two deafening blasts filled the air with the smoke of senseless tragedy. As one who was also a witness to the bomb blasts from the street outside of the Boylston Street Firehouse, my thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and their families. But the precious moments of joy and happiness, shared between family and friends in the hours preceding the bombings, are ones also worth being shared and remembered.
I wish to offer my own gratitude and deep appreciation to the citizens, emergency and law enforcement personnel who rushed in fearlessly to aid the injured, and worked so quickly to keep us all safe in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. And my deepest thanks to Debbie, Lauren, Jane, Alan & Pat, Kelly & Tim, and Anne, for their support and generosity toward Tim and me in our time of need. There truly aren't words to adequately express this gratitude.
God bless Boston, and God bless the USA. May the spirit of the people never be broken, and may these memories serve to make our resolve stronger.
