"The Wave," officially known as Coyote Buttes North, is a stunningly beautiful, unusual natural rock sculpture found in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area, located near the town of Page, AZ.
It's a hidden treasure that literally takes your breath away upon first sight. And pictures can never do it justice. The scenes all along the trail belong to a family of unique beauty that visually beckons you on, and sings through the wind, "Follow on. the best is waiting ahead."
The swirling color patterns and shapes you encounter when you cross into the realm of "The Wave" are almost beyond belief. It's a one-of-a-kind natural jewel hidden among the hills, enveloped like a wrapped gift waiting to be opened. It's like a fantasy meticulously sculpted into stone.
Okay, well, I could probably write a book about this incredible one-day adventure, but for the sake of space and time I'll just leave you with this thought:
If you ever have the opportunity, the capability, and desire to do this, please, DO THIS!! "The Wave" is a rare privilege for those who effort the lottery for a chance at one of only 20 issued daily permits, and is a worthy and awe-inspiring wonder of creation to behold. This is truly the stuff that dreams are made of!
Information on the different recreation sites and permits can be obtained through the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) website under the section for Arizona.
